The Positive Movement Foundation, a San Diego-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization specializing in the betterment of school-aged children and their families, announced they will host an inaugural ‘Cocktails for a Cause’ event.
The event supports many local programs
The event will raise funds to support Positive Movement Foundation’s many local programs. Working directly with area schools, the foundation will contribute in-kind donations of school supplies and technology, partnered with scholarship opportunities, individual mentoring, tutoring, education workshops and student empowerment events.
This event will also benefit The Girls Empowerment Conference, which in its fourth year, has already become the largest conference of its kind in the United States, hosting 500 girls grades 9-12. The conference is a one-day weekend event that focuses on creating an atmosphere where each girl can maximize her potential to be a leader in her community, an ambassador of her thoughts, and an agent of change in the world around her.
“Our team is dedicated to the betterment of San Diego’s greatest at-risk children,” said Positive Movement Foundation Founder and President, Omid Sabet. “We have identified many opportunities to serve our community and anticipate having a significant impact on the lives of those we are looking to serve. Positive Movement Foundation was created to assist children and their families through a variety of donations and programs in an effort to ensure our community’s youth have access to the tools needed to achieve their highest potential.”
Silent and live auctions, VIP tickets and other unique experiences
The social event will consist of silent and live auction items, including VIP tickets to local festivals, dinner with celebrities, elite gym memberships & other unique experiences. Additionally, food and drinks will be served. Guests are encouraged to use car and ride share services to avoid drinking and driving.

Funds raised through ‘Cocktails for a Cause’ will allow the Foundation to sponsor whole classrooms of children between 4th and 7th grades with a long-term plan of continuing sponsorship for approximately three consecutive years in an effort to maximize impact. During that time, sponsored children will have access to a variety of resources, as well as educational opportunities and mentorship coaching. Throughout all Positive Movement Foundation efforts, an emphasis will be placed on teaching emotional intelligence, an invaluable life skill generally overlooked in our current educational process.
