Ballast Point announced its holiday collaboration with fellow San Diego brand and ABC Shark Tank alum, Tipsy Elves. Together, they’re sporting a spooky twist on the season with a limited-edition Ballast Point Ugly Christmas Sweater and specialty beer collaboration, Spruce Tipsy Elves IPA.
Ugly Christmas Sweater (Limited)
Co-designed by Ballast Point and Tipsy Elves in the spirit of all Ballast Point artwork, the limited release Ugly Christmas Sweater features a Sculpin-swilling, skeleton Santa with his sack of great craft beer. Unisex sizes will be available for purchase online for nationwide delivery that began November 16th on both the Ballast Point and Tipsy Elves’ websites and in all Ballast Point tasting rooms and Home Brew Mart, while supplies last.
A holiday-inspired IPA
Sweater weather demands a holiday brew so Ballast Point and Tipsy Elves came together on a brew day in early November to collaborate on the aptly named Spruce Tipsy Elves IPA, a holiday-inspired IPA and long-standing favorite. The ingredient that made the original so wonderful — Sitka spruce tips — are hand-harvested from the family member of a Ballast Point brewer from trees located on Prince of Whales Island near Hydaburgh, located in Southeast Alaska.
This IPA brims with aromas of fresh pine, melon, strawberry, and lemon/lime, with the bright flavors of the spruce tips complemented by a gentle dry hop of Simcoe, Hüll Melon, and Styrian Wolf. Light and clean, this beer is incredibly aromatic without being overly bitter, so it’s highly drinkable — an ideal brew for the balmy winter in Southern California. Limited release Spruce Tipsy Elves IPA will be available beginning December 4th on draft at all Ballast Point tasting rooms (San Diego, Anaheim, Long Beach) and Home Brew Mart, while supplies last.

“Tipsy Elves and Ballast Point are both iconic San Diego brands who have fun, but also take their crafts seriously,” said Tipsy Elves co-founder Evan Mendelsohn. “This made teaming up with Ballast Point a no-brainer. Tipsy Elves had a blast brewing up these collaborative holiday designs and crafting an IPA to help spread the holiday cheer and good spirits all season long.”
A not-to-miss holiday party!
To properly celebrate the season and the partnership, Ballast Point and Tipsy Elves are hosting a ticketed Holiday Party on December 4th at Ballast Point Little Italy where the limited Spruce Tipsy Elves IPA will be tapped to the backdrop of holiday tunes and decor. Each $50 ticket includes a pint of choice, small bites, a take-home crowler of collaboration beer “Spruce Tipsy Elves IPA,” a holiday box filled with branded pint glasses and coozies, and the chance to try the new beer and other seasonal offerings including Ballast Point’s Ale Nog and Victory at Sea. Ugly Christmas sweaters are strongly encouraged.
Ballast Point continues to celebrate a quarter-century of craft brewing with new product releases and anniversary mixed packs, specialty releases in 16 oz. cans, dynamic community partnerships with the San Diego Padres and San Diego Legion, and a new San Francisco tasting room slated for spring 2022. The collaboration with Tipsy Elves brings together two San Diego brands for a long overdue holiday celebration.
