Art of Elan, the pioneering group that has brought unique events and exciting classical music to San Diego for over 13 years, presents “Nostalgia” at the San Diego Museum Of Art on November 9th.
This special program takes inspiration from the “Paintings of the Confinement” exhibit, in which San Diego-based artist Marianela de la Hoz, shares 11 intimate egg tempera paintings created in 2020-2021 in response to the transformative circumstances imposed by the global pandemic of COVID-19.

Using “nostalgia” as a lens through which to explore the musical art of modern-day composers, Nico Muhly and Kaija Saariaho, alongside that of war-torn Europe from the 1940s (with works by Grazyna Bacewicz and Viktor Ullmann), this colorful program also features the world premiere of a new work written by Art of Elan’s former Director of Community Engagement, Jory Herman.
If you’ve never been to an Art of Elan performance – it’s time to go! San Diego is so lucky to have this highly talented group committed to bringing innovative classical music performances to our community!
See you there, San Diego!
