Take one look at Wolfie’s Carousel Bar in Little Italy and you can’t help but think, “This is different!”
And it most certainly is.
The recently-opened bar and bistro is clearly the result of very creative minds bringing fantasy to life through their work; every detail intended to give you a whimsical break from the everyday.
Wolfie?
The hand-carved German carousel was originally built in 1881 by master carver and builder, Charles I.D. Looff — nicknamed “Wolfie” by friends — thus the unusual name.
His intricate, whimsical carousels and amusement rides made their way around the country, from East to West Coast.
Thankfully, one landed in a former auto garage in Little Italy, San Diego!
Does it spin?
Yes, it does! At first glance, it seems to be turning quite slowly. But sit on it and enjoy a couple of their beautiful cocktails, and you’ll definitely know that you’re moving!
Have another cocktail or two, and you may have a hard time finding your seat again after going to the bathroom – it’s not where you left it!
It’s a fun, unique experience, and the fact that you are moving throughout the room makes for perfect people watching.
The menu
Although we didn’t get a chance to enjoy the full menu yet, the food looks straight out of a French bistro and sounds amazing. We can’t wait to give it a try.
But we had plenty of opportunity to explore the cocktail menu, and it’s already one of our favorite cocktail bars in San Diego! The presentation is gorgeous, and they pack a punch. Perfect!
We have nothing but good things to say about Wolfie’s, but a picture tells a thousand words, so we’ll let them do the talking.
