North City, a new ‘downtown development district’ in San Marcos establishing itself as a North County destination, is welcoming its latest culinary tenant to its downtown hub, Buona Forchetta. The wildly popular Italian eatery, located at 250 North City Drive, has opened its doors to guests for lunch and dinner as of July 7th.

Similar to its flagship in South Park, the restaurant will offer an all-day menu featuring authentic Neapolitan and Roman-style pizzas from a custom Stefano Ferrara Italian pizza oven, as well as appetizers, calzones, fresh pastas, salads, entrees and desserts. When there is enough demand, Buona Forchetta North City will offer a breakfast and brunch menu complete with pastries from sibling bakery, Matteo, and will eventually add a retail store selling Italian goods, fresh pasta and bakery items.

“The acclaimed Buona Forchetta is a welcome addition to the collection of restaurants in our rising neighborhood,” said Andy Tenn, senior project manager at Sea Breeze Properties, developer of North City. “The brand is sure to be an enticing draw for North County locals, students at Cal State San Marcos, and visitors from across San Diego. As our state is now fully reopening after a challenging year, the timing is ideal and we are excited to continue building out our dream city with San Diego’s best local businesses.”

Buona Forchetta owner, Matteo Cattaneo, leased out the North City space last August and has reimagined the interior space. The restaurant holds 120 seats including expanded outdoor seating and installed patio coverings for optimal al fresco dining.
“When the North City location became available, we thought it was the perfect space for our North County expansion,” said Cattaneo. “We’ve been counting down the days for the unveiling of our newest location and to be part of North City’s exciting downtown development and growing culinary scene.”
